Throughout this article, we will guide you through all the steps involved in setting up your account, creating your first product here on Podia, creating your site, and putting it all together so you can start selling your digital products.

Basic account setup

Getting started with Podia should be super simple! Before you start, we just need to take some basic account setup steps.

Click on your avatar at the top navigation bar and choose Settings.

Site name and logo

Under General, make sure to give your site a name (it can be your business name, for example)

Next, upload a logo to your site. This will show up on your site pages and invoices.

Recommended logo size: 200x60px

Supported formats: .png or .jpg

You can also set the language your customers will see when they visit your site and also change its timezone.

Connecting a payment method

In order to accept payments and set up a price for your products, you need to connect Stripe and/or PayPal to your account.

Click on the Payments tab and connect your Stripe and/or PayPal accounts:

Create your first product

Now, it is time to create your first product. Let’s put something on the shelf for your visitors to buy!

Step 1: In order to get started, click on the Products tab at the top navigation menu.

Step 2: Click on Create first product to get started ✨

Step 3: Give it a name and select the type of product you'd like to create. Now, it is time to start adding content!

From your Product editor, use the available buttons to add content to your product.

You'll be able to drag and drop as well as browse the files directly from your computer, tablet, or mobile! 📱

Repeat this process as much as you find necessary until you have added all the content to your products.

Once you’re ready to sell, just switch the product mode to “Published”.

Please note: Be aware that online courses can only be published if you are on a paid plan and webinars/bundles if you are on Shaker/Earthquaker.

Build and design your homepage

Now it is time to start building your site pages.

The homepage is the first page people will see when they visit your Podia site.

There are a lot of different ways to build and design a homepage. Here’s some of the information you can include:

  • Tell people about your business and yourself

  • Tell people about your company’s history

  • Display your products on your homepage

  • Add a newsletter capture form to your site

To build and edit your homepage, you’ll need to access the Site editor. To open the Site editor, click on your site name in the top right, then choose "Edit site":

If this is your first time accessing the site editor, we will help you get started with building your amazing website! ✨

Select the option that best suits your current needs when it comes to building a website.

NOTE: if you already have a website you won't see this option and will be taken to your site directly.

Follow the steps, enter the required information and once you are done, click on Show me your website.

You will be directed now to your own website, which we have crafted just for you, depending on the options you have chosen ✨

Then, you can start modifying your page sections to enter the information about you and your business.

We automatically generate a product sales page every time a new product is created, so you don't need to worry about that!

Note: your product sales page will only be visible if your product is set to Published.

Here's how to edit a specific product sales page. Head over to the Products tab, on the top menu.

Choose the product you want, click on "..." > Edit Page:

This will open up the Site editor where you can edit your product sales page.

All you need to do is click on “+”, select the type of page section you want to add and edit its information using the left-hand menu.

It will generate a PDF file with some text you could use for your product landing page.

After you’re done, click on Publish at the top right corner to publish the changes you made.

When it comes to selling your course, your email list is your number one most valuable sales asset 📥

If you’re starting from scratch, no problem! We’re here to help.

For some inspiration, check out these tips we’ve put together for building your email list. We also have an email marketing masterclass you can go through in your own time. It will show you how to build an email list from scratch AND what to write.

Here are a few ways you can build your email list on Podia:

  1. If you have an existing list of subscribers or customers, you can import them into Podia.

  2. Collect email addresses with a sign-up form on your Podia site or Pre-Launch Product.

  3. Customers buy your products and agree to receive product emails from you.

Send an email to subscribers

You can also email people directly from Podia! We do offer email marketing tools that allow you to email your subscribers directly from Podia! ✉️

To get started with our email tools, go to Email in the top navigation menu and click on Create.

You can choose between two types of emails:

New broadcast - A single message that is sent to an entire list of people at the same time. This email can be sent to all or just to selected email lists.

This is usually the best option for creating weekly newsletters, sending product announcements, etc.

New campaign - An automated email series that will be sent after subscribers performed a specific action, like signing up for a free webinar, or purchasing an online course or membership.

Choose the one that best suits your needs, write your subject line, your email, and hit send!
