Setting up your default Email form tag

Learn how to set your default Podia email form tag to automatically tag subscribers who sign up through your email capture forms.

Written by Rodrigo

When you add an email form to a site page, anyone who submits their information through that form will be added to your audience as a subscriber.

You can also automatically apply a tag of your choice to those subscribers, making it easier to organize and segment your audience.

Setting up your default email form tag

By default, we automatically create and apply a tag for your site called “Email Form”.

This tag will be automatically applied to any Email Form page sections you add to your site.

Here's how to rename or select a different tag if you'd like to modify the default tag applied by Podia:

  1. From your home feed, click on your site name and select Admin from the dropdown menu.

  2. From the Admin dashboard, click Settings > Email in the sidebar menu.

  3. Click the "Edit" button next to the "Default email form tag" option.

  4. By default, the Email form tag is selected here. You can remove it or choose a different tag for the email form to use instead.

  5. Hit the "Save" button to save your changes.

FAQs

Does updating the email form tag automatically update existing forms on my site?

Updating your Email form tag doesn't automatically update the ones you've previously placed on your site.

You will need to manually update any existing tags you might have placed, in case you'd like those to be updated as well.

What happens if I delete the default tag for Email forms?

This setting will switch over to having your email form "Not tagged" and any email campaign you have set for the deleted tag will be automatically paused.

Removing the tag from this setting will also have your subscribers added to your audience without tags, making it more difficult to target them using broadcasts or campaigns.

If you remove your default form tag, make sure you're adding tags directly to your email form section.

Is the default email tag added to the email form on my site's footer?

No. However, you can manually add whatever tags - including the default email tag - if you'd like.
