Default topics are automatically followed by members when they subscribe to your community, and they cannot be unfollowed.

The content of these topics will automatically show up for members in their home feed and in the community left-hand menu as well. These are ideal for important topics, like announcements.

Creating a new default topic

Here's how to create a default topic in Podia:

  1. In the sidebar menu, click on Community and select Topics.

  2. Click on “+ New topic” at the top of the page.

  3. Give your topic a name, description & image.

Under topic options, check the Default topic box to turn this topic into a Default topic.

Editing existing topics

You can also edit existing topics to make them default topics, or change default topics back to regular topics.

Here's how to do it:

  1. Click Community and select Topics in the sidebar menu.

  2. Click on the Pen icon next to the topic you'd like to edit.

  3. Under topic options, check/uncheck the Default topic box depending on what you're trying to do.

FAQs

I created a default topic but it is not showing up for my members... HELP!

If you've created a default topic but your members are still not receiving notifications, this might be due to a caching issue.

Uncheck the default topic option for the affected topic, save your changes and then enable the default option back again.
