Upsells are a great way to increase the size of your orders by giving your customer a great deal on adding additional products to their purchase.

Customers will see your upsell offers right after they buy your main product — a moment when they’re most likely to want more.

Adding upsells to your products

Here's how to add upsells to your products:

  1. From your Podia dashboard, click on Products in the sidebar menu.

  2. Click on Edit next to the product you'd like to add an upsell to.

  3. Once inside the product editor, click the Pricing tab and choose "+ New upsell".

  4. Use the new window to select the products you’d like to offer as an upsell. You can add as many as you'd like.

  5. After selecting your product, you can customize the upsell offer by adding a heading, a description, and even offering a discount.

  6. Once you’re finished, just hit Create.

You can repeat this process to add as many upsells as you’d like.

You can rearrange the order of your upsells by dragging and dropping them while setting them up.

Customizing your upsell message

You can customize your upsell page heading message so that everything is aligned with your brand message.

To do that, simply modify the Heading section whenever adding an upsell.


This custom message will be updated and will start showing for customers during checkout:

Understanding the customer experience

All upsells you've added will show up after customers purchase your main product.

From the upsell page, customers will be able to add to cart the ones they want to purchase or ignore the offer and the discounts.

If customers decide to purchase more than one offer, they'll be able to review the purchase subtotal before continuing.

FAQs

Can I add multiple upsells to my product?

Yes! You can add as many upsells as you'd like to your product.

Can I offer free products as upsells?

No. Free products cannot be added as upsells.

If you want to add a free product as part of a paid product purchase, it might be better to bundle them together using a product bundle or including it in your offer through included products.

Can I modify the look of the upsell page?

The look of the upsell page cannot be modified, but you can customize the heading and description that will be shown for your upsells, as well as the custom heading and description for each individual product.

If a customer bought an upsell offer already, will they still see it?

No. If a customer already bought the product you're offering as an upsell, they won't see this offer when the upsell options are presented to them.

Can I upsell a subscription plan to someone already on another subscription plan?

No, if a customer is already a member of a subscription plan, they won’t see another paid subscription plan as an upsell during checkout.

Instead, they’ll need to switch plans directly through their customer dashboard.
