If you are a resident of the United States, we may have a legal obligation to collect sales tax based on local regulations in your state.
This article goes over the details on what creators can expect, including answers to common questions.
We collect sales tax on payments creators make to Podia in the following states:
Arizona
Hawaii
Kentucky
Maryland
New York
Ohio
Pennsylvania
Texas
Utah
Washington
Are you charging sales tax on sales that I make as a creator?
No. This article refers to sales tax obligations that may apply to your Podia subscription only.
What if I'm not using Podia for my business?
In some states, sales tax is assessed on SaaS products for business use only, not personal use.
However, as a business SaaS product, we will assess sales tax on all Podia subscriptions.
How do you calculate the sales tax amount?
The exact sales tax percentage varies from state to state.
We partner with Quaderno, which is responsible for calculating the correct sales tax amount for your jurisdiction based on your billing zip code.
If youโd like to calculate this, you can input your zip code and the price you pay for Podia here.
How is sales tax calculated if I have a discounted Podia subscription?
Sales tax is calculated based on the amount that you paid.
If you paid a discounted price, sales tax is calculated off the discounted price.
Iโm not in any of these states. What does this mean for me?
Software sales tax requirements are evolving and we may be required to begin collecting sales tax in your state.
This article will be updated with these jurisdictions as these changes occur.
For more information, please see our Terms of Service.
My organization is tax-exempt. What do I do?
Some organizations, such as registered charities, are exempt from sales tax.
If you are a tax-exempt organization, you can submit your local sales tax exemption documentation here.
Please make sure to upload state-specific documentation for your tax authority in .pdf format.
An IRS 501(c)3 letter does NOT constitute an exemption certificate for state and local purposes.
Please note that we cannot accept this documentation in formats other than .pdf, nor submitted outside of the linked form above.
