How is “bulk sending” defined?
These requirements apply to bulk senders who send more than 5,000 emails per day to Gmail or Yahoo email addresses.
Am I affected?
If you use Podia Email to send more than 5,000 emails to Gmail or Yahoo email addresses per day, and you have set up a custom sender address, you will need to add a DMARC record to ensure your emails land in your subscribers’ inboxes.
If you use Podia Email and do not have a custom sender address set up, Podia manages your email deliverability.
No action is needed on your end.
Adding a DMARC record
You will need to have a DMARC policy for your domain. A basic DMARC record looks like:
v=DMARC1; p=none;
You can have a more complex record, but at minimum you will need a DMARC record with a minimum p=none policy setting.
You can add a DMARC record with the hosting company you use for your email domain.
You can check if you have a valid DMARC record using this tool. If not, you will need to create a DMARC record.
You can find help documentation below for adding a DMARC record with some leading domain hosts below.
If you don’t see your hosting company below, reach out to your provider for instructions on adding a DMARC record for your domain.
Please note that we do not validate whether you have a valid DMARC record.
FAQ
Do I need to add a SPF or DKIM record?
Do I need to add a SPF or DKIM record?
No.
DKIM is already set up if you have set up a custom sending domain using Podia.
We use Sparkpost to send marketing emails, and they provide the correct SPF records. Inbox providers check SPF against the Return-Path address, not the From address, and this is managed on Sparkpost’s end.
