Podia seamlessly integrates with Discord, allowing customers who buy products from your Podia site to access your Discord server.
If a customer loses access to a product, Podia can also remove them from your Discord server, ensuring they lose access if they're not part of a product anymore.
In this article, we'll explore how to remove customers from your Discord server when they lose product access.
Remove customers from your Discord server when they lose product access
By default, when your customers lose access to a product on Podia, we won’t fully remove them from your Discord servers – we’ll just remove their role and keep them in your servers.
However, you can easily enable an option to fully remove a customer from your Discord servers when they lose product access.
Here's what you'll need to do!
From your dashboard, click on your Avatar in the top right-hand corner and select Settings.
Locate the Integrations settings group and click on Edit next to the Connect Discord option.
Click on the toggle to connect your Discord account if you haven't already.
After connecting Discord to your Podia account, you’ll see a new option: “Remove community access when a customer loses product access.”
This setting lets you choose whether to automatically remove customers from your Discord server if they lose access to a product or are removed from it.
Check the box to enable the option to fully remove customers from your Discord server if they lose product access.
FAQ & Troubleshooting
What happens if the "Remove community access when a customer loses product access" option is disabled?
What happens if the "Remove community access when a customer loses product access" option is disabled?
If you don't enable the "Remove community access when a customer loses product access", customers will remain on your Discord server.
In this case, we will remove the role associated with the Podia product and keep their Discord server access. This will happen if:
You still have the role active in your Discord server (it hasn't been manually removed)
The role isn't "General Access" (General Access =
@everyone
in Discord which is default and cannot be added or removed)
If you have the option "Remove community access when a customer loses product access" enabled, customers will be completely removed from your Discord server if they lose access to a product.
What happens if a customer is enrolled in more than one product and loses access to just one of the products?
What happens if a customer is enrolled in more than one product and loses access to just one of the products?
If a customer has more than one Podia product enrollment with Discord access and only one is removed, they won’t be removed from your Discord server until their remaining enrollments with a Discord role are also removed.
The same goes for roles. If you have multiple courses with the same Discord role and a customer is enrolled in two of them, their role will not be removed from Discord as long as they still have other active enrollments using that ID.
