Podia Events are designed for live experiences. You can only upload a replay after an event has ended, so you can’t add a pre-recorded video before publishing the event.
The best product type depends on the experience you want to offer:
Use an Event for a single recording. Events are designed for live sessions and make it easy to upload a replay afterward.
Use an online course for a series of videos, lessons, or supporting materials. Courses give you more flexibility to organize your content into a structured learning experience.
If you want to offer a pre-recorded event, you’ll need to use a workaround. In this article, we’ll walk you through the available options.
Using an Event
You can use an Event product to offer a pre-recorded experience, but you’ll need to make a few manual adjustments.
With this method, you’ll publish an event, wait for its scheduled end time to pass, and then upload your pre-recorded video as the event replay.
Before you begin, keep the following in mind:
Your pre-recorded event will appear on the Events page, but members won’t be able to register from that page because the event has already ended.
Members will be able to sign up or purchase your event through the event’s sales page.
Here’s how to create a pre-recorded experience using an Event product:
From your home feed, click on your site name and select Admin from the dropdown menu.
From the Admin dashboard, click Events in the sidebar menu.
From the Events page, click "+ New Event" to create a new event.
Podia requires a virtual event link and a scheduled date and time before you can publish an event. You can use temporary details to meet these requirements.
Add a random YouTube link in the Virtual link field.
The replay you upload later will replace this link, so it won’t be shown to members. If you don’t have a link available, you can use this Podia video.
Set a start and end date for the event.
Choose a date and time close to the current time if you want to avoid a long wait. You can only upload a replay after the event has ended.
Click Publish to publish your event.
Wait until the event’s scheduled end time has passed.
Return to the event and upload your pre-recorded video in the Replay field.
Once uploaded, the Replay video will automatically appear on your event for those who registered.
Using an Online course
Another option is to add your pre-recorded content to an online course.
When using an online course, keep the following in mind:
Setting it up may be faster and easier.
The course won’t appear on the Events page.
To offer your recording through an online course:
Create a new online course.
Add a new lesson.
Upload your recording to the lesson.
