Want to take your experience to the next level and connect external platforms with Podia?
Zapier might be the answer!
Introduction
Zapier lets you connect apps you use every day with Podia and automate workflows.
With over 5,000+ apps in their App Directory, chances are you’ll be able to connect just about anything you use with Podia.
What are some examples?
Send a customer to your favorite email marketing app like ActiveCampaign, MailChimp, and others
Store new product signups in Trello or Google Sheets
Tweet out in joy when a new sale hits
Sign up a customer for a product in Podia when making a sale using an external checkout - like Samcart
Is Zapier available with all Podia Plans?
Zapier triggers
Zapier triggers are available on Mover and Shaker plans.
This means you can send a trigger FROM Podia to any Zapier-supported platform.
Zapier actions
Zapier actions are available on the Shaker plan.
Zapier actions would allow you to perform actions on Podia (such as signing customers up for your product, add someone to your community, etc.).
Connecting Podia and Zapier accounts
To set up an automated workflow with Zapier, follow the simple steps below:
Log in to your account in Zapier. They have both free and paid plans!
From your Zapier dashboard, click on "+ Create Zap".
You will be prompted to choose a Trigger app. You can search for Podia in the search bar, then click on it to continue.
Next, you'll choose a trigger event. This is where you'll choose which event will trigger your Zap.
Our current trigger options in Zapier include:
Product Signed Up For - Triggers when someone sings up for a free or paid product.
Someone Joins Community - Triggers when someone joins a free or paid community plan
Someone Leaves Community - Triggers when a community member cancels their plan
Someone Waitlists - Triggers when someone subscribers for emails from a product waitlist form
Next, you'll be prompted to sign into your Podia account. This will take you through a verification process to grant access to your Podia account to Zapier.
After logging into your Podia account, choose the account and click Continue.
Next, you'll be prompted to test your trigger. Testing the trigger will pull up a related event that's occurred inside your Podia account.
Example: If the trigger you've chosen is Product Signed Up For, it will pull up a list of your recent product signups.
Click Continue to begin the setup of your Action.
Next, you'll choose an Action app. Use the search bar to find the app that you'd like to connect your Podia account with.
You can choose any of the 5,000+ apps supported by Zapier. Popular ones would include Google Docs, Mailchimp, Slack, etc.
Select an Action app. For this example, the selected Action app is Google Sheets.
When a new product signup is processed in Podia, this action will create a new spreadsheet row in a selected sheet.
Connect your Action app account. If you do not already have the action app added to your Zapier account, you will be prompted to connect it.
Otherwise, it will populate your connect accounts in a dropdown to choose from.
In this next step, you'll configure your Zap.
In this example, we are adding a spreadsheet row to a Google Sheet.
The fields you see here may vary depending on the platform and action you have selected.
Finally, it's time to test the zap! You'll click through Test zap, then check your Action app to confirm it's set up as desired.
For this example, you can see that this worked beautifully!
Click on Publish Zap to save and activate your Zap!
You can view and manage your Zaps straight from your Zapier dashboard! 🎉
And that's it! The two selected apps should start talking with each other moving forward!
