Zapier lets you connect apps you use every day with Podia and automate workflows.
One of the workflows you can create is to add someone to your community when they complete a trigger step in another app.
Available on: Shaker plan.
This works great if...
You sell your products using an external checkout and want to automatically add people to your community in Podia after a successful purchase
You use an external email marketing platform to collect emails and want to automatically add people to your community in Podia after they subscribe to your emails
... and more!
Zapier allows you to automate sign-ups into your Podia community from a myriad of different external platforms or checkouts, such as SamCart, Eventbrite, Thrivecart, and more!
In this article, we'll show you how to add someone to your community in Podia using Zapier!
Note: Your community members should only be enrolled into one plan at a time; Think of it as a gym community, or a subscription to a streaming service.
While with this integration, we don’t block the subscription to more than one plan, your customer’s dashboard will only reflect one of the community subscriptions they are enrolled in, not all.
Setting up a Zapier trigger
The first step is to define your Zapier trigger. A trigger is an event within an app that starts a Zap.
The Zapier trigger can be any platform you want to connect to Podia.
Examples:
A new sale is made through Samcart
A new sale is made through Thrivecart
A new attendee registered through Eventbrite
New subscriber added to Mailchimp
Whatever you choose, this will be the event that will trigger the zap.
Log in to Zapier and click "Create Zap" in the upper left corner of your Zapier dashboard.
Select the platform you want to connect to Podia and define the trigger event.
For this example, we'll use Eventbrite as our Trigger app, and our trigger event will be New Attendee Registered.
You'll be prompted to sign into the external platform to grant Zapier the necessary permissions to connect.
Once connected, you'll choose the desired trigger. For this example, we will use a trigger of New Attendees who register for our Example Seminar.
Next, you will test your trigger. Testing the trigger will pull up a related event that's occurred inside your external trigger app account.
If the trigger you've chosen is New Attendee, it will pull up a list of your recent attendee registrations in the trigger app (EventBrite, in this case).
Once you confirm that the trigger is set up correctly, you're ready to configure the Podia Action!
Setting up the "Add Someone To Your Community" Zapier action
After your Zapier Trigger is set, it is time to configure the action Zapier will take in Podia.
To add someone to your community via Zapier, you'll need to select the "Add Someone To Your Community" Zapier action. Here's how to set it up.
Under Action, select or search for Podia.
If you haven't used Podia with Zapier before, you'll be prompted to sign into your Podia account.
For Event, select "Add Someone To Your Community".
Next, we'll need to configure what community plan you want to sign members to, and tell Podia their name and email address. On this page, you can also choose whether Podia should send your customer a registration email.
These variables will be pulled from the trigger you have set up on the previous step.
Test to zap to confirm connection. Once confirmed, click on Publish Zap to save and activate your zap!
In operation...
Once both a trigger and an action are in place, the zap will start working.
Whenever a trigger is activated, Zapier will perform the Sign Someone Up For a Product action in Podia.
You can check all of the latest zaps on your account by clicking on Zap history.
Finally, you'll test the zap!
Check your Podia dashboard to confirm the enrollment of the test customer:
Once confirmed, name and publish your zap!
