Zapier lets you connect apps you use every day with Podia and automate workflows.

One of the workflows you can create is to add someone to your free community plan when they complete a trigger step in another app.

Available on: Shaker plan.

Connect your Podia account

First things first: You'll need to connect your Podia account to your Zapier account. See our article on Connecting Podia to Zapier

Just a heads up: Only free subscription plans can be used with the Zapier integration but they can be hidden from your Podia site if you don't want to make that plan public.

Additionally, your members should only be enrolled into one plan at a time; Think of it as a gym community, or a subscription to a streaming service. While with this integration, we don’t block the subscription to more than one plan, your customer’s dashboard will only reflect one of the memberships they are enrolled in, not all.

Example Zapier walkthrough

Here's a walkthrough of how to create a zap using Google Sheets and Podia.

In this example, we'll create a zap which takes new rows of customer data from a spreadsheet and subscribes that customer to a free community plan in Podia.

Setting up your Zap

First, you'll need to create your Google Sheet:

Next, in Zapier, You'll click + Create Zap.

In the next step, you'll connect Google Sheets with Podia. The first app, Google Sheets, will be the trigger app, and the second, Podia, will be the action app.

You'll choose the trigger and action from the dropdown menus. In this case, we'll use New Spreadsheet Row as the trigger. The action will be Add someone to your community.

Configuring the Google Sheets trigger step

Before we begin this step, we will need to add a test row to your spreadsheet so Zapier can find some data:

On the page that follows, you'll begin to configure your zap trigger. First, you'll need to sign into your desired Google account.

After you click continue, it's time to set up that trigger! You'll choose the desired spreadsheet from the dropdown:

Then, you'll choose which worksheet:

Next, you'll test your trigger:

If properly connected, it will pick up the data from the test row that you input!

Click on Continue with selected record to move forward to the Action step.

Configuring the Podia action step

First, you'll select the Podia account you want to connect with.

Once you click Continue, you'll be brought to the next step to set up the action.

In this step, you'll select which plan you'd like to add them to, then map the data fields as shown below.

You will also be given the option to send them an automated registration email! 🎉 This should always be turned on unless you intend to manually email the customer yourself.

Finally, you'll test the zap!

Check your Podia dashboard to confirm the enrollment of the test customer:

Once confirmed, name and publish your zap!

Now, whenever you add new rows to the spreadsheet, it will automatically add those users to the selected Podia community plan!

Note: You may have to wait up to 15mins for Zapier's Google Sheet integration to check your spreadsheet changes and trigger your zap. Once Zapier find a new row, it will add that customer to your membership plan.

Please note: While we’re happy to help with any issues taking place on our end, we aren’t able to access your accounts with those other tools, which limits the support we can offer. We encourage reaching out directly to the third-party tools for help getting them working.
