Spambots can populate your list with illegitimate email addresses, which, if undeterred, can lead to lots of bounced emails, and even harm your sender reputation.

By using double opt-in, you ensure that every email added to your list is valid and genuinely interested in your content, as they need to confirm their subscription manually.

Turning on double opt-in for your site

Here's how to turn on double opt-in for your Podia site:

  1. In the sidebar menu, click on Settings and then select Email.

  2. Locate the Email opt-in line, and choose Edit.

  3. From here, you can choose if you want Single opt-in or Double opt-in.

    • Don't require double opt-in: People are automatically subscribed when subscribing to emails.

    • Require double opt-in (recommended): People are sent a confirmation email before they are subscribed. People who do not confirm their email addresses will be marked with an Unconfirmed status.

If you choose to require double opt-in, people will receive an email with a link so they can confirm their email addresses.
