An online course is made up of individual lessons that you add to your course.

Each lesson can be whatever you need:

  • A simple text lesson

  • A lesson with one or multiple videos

  • A lesson with videos and downloadable resources

  • Or a mix of different content types

Lessons are flexible, so you can combine videos, downloadable files, embeds, and more to create the ideal learning experience.

You’ll need at least one lesson before you can publish your course and share it with customers.

In this article, we’ll walk through how to add and customize lessons in your online courses.

Adding lessons to online courses

Here's how to add new lessons to your online course:

Make sure to create an online course first if you haven't already.

  1. From your online course editor, click on "+ New lesson" and select the Lesson option.

  2. A new lesson will be added to your course, and you’ll be taken straight to the lesson editor.

Use the Title and Content fields to add your lesson’s name and write its content.

  3. You can add multiple types of media into your lesson's content - such as image, videos, buttons, embeds & more!

To add new media to your lesson, simply type / (forward slash) into the text area to bring up all of the available media options and select the one you'd like to add.

You can add as many images, videos, files, audio, etc., into your lesson as you'd like. Simply repeat the process described above.

  4. Use the right-hand menu to customize your lesson options, such as:

    1. Icon: Choose the icon that displays next to this lesson in the course viewer sidebar.

    2. Visibility: Choose whether this lesson will be visible to customers or not.

    3. Store preview: Allow visitors to this course's sales page to preview this lesson without joining your course.

  5. Once you're done customizing your lesson, click the Save button at the top-right to have it saved to your online course.

FAQs

Can I play video and audio while editing my lesson?

No. While you can preview how the video and audio players look, actually playing them inside the lesson editor isn’t supported.

If you want to watch or listen to the file you just uploaded, you’ll need to do it by previewing your lesson instead.

Simply click on Preview lesson in the right-hand menu after saving your lesson.
