Why are you requesting my members to set up a profile?

Learn more about why we're requesting your members to set up a profile when they login

The next time members log in after you migrate to the new Podia beta, they’ll see a screen asking them to set up their profile.

New members and existing contacts who haven’t created a profile yet will be prompted to complete this step the next time they log in to their Podia account.

This includes adding a name, profile photo, short bio, and social links.

If they’ve entered any of this information before — such as their name or profile photo — it will be pre-filled with their existing details, and they can update or confirm it.

They can also choose their profile privacy settings and decide whether their profile is visible to other members.

Why are we doing this?

With the new Podia experience, member profiles help determine how people appear in your community.

Members will be asked to review and set up key profile details, such as the name they want to use, their profile photo, a short bio, and any social links they’d like to add.

This ensures the information shown is the one they want to use. They’ll only be asked to complete this setup once, the next time they log in.

After confirming their profile, they can update this information anytime from their account settings.

FAQs

What happens to existing contacts that haven't set up a profile yet?

If a contact hasn’t set up their profile yet and doesn’t have a plan subscription (for example, if they only subscribed to emails), their profile will be hidden in your community by default.

The next time they log in, they’ll be asked to set up their profile and can choose whether they want their profile to be visible to other members or not.

What happens if a member decides to not share their profile with other members?

If a member chooses not to share their profile, it won’t appear in the Members area, and other members won’t be able to start chats with them.

However, their profile will still be visible when they react to posts, leave comments, or create posts in the community.
