Zapier lets you connect apps you use every day with Podia and automate workflows.

One of the workflows you can create is to trigger an event in a different platform whenever a user joins a community plan in Podia.

Available on: Mover & Shaker plans.

Connect your Podia account

If you haven't connected your Podia account to Zapier, follow the steps on Connecting Podia to Zapier.

Note: This Podia trigger is available on all Podia Plans. You can change your Podia Plan at anytime here.

Configure your Podia trigger in Zapier

To configure your new trigger, click on + Create Zap in Zapier and select Podia as the trigger app.

You should have your Podia account connected and tested from the previous steps. Once you have confirmed that the account is successfully connected, select the Someone Joins Community trigger:

Make sure to test your trigger by getting sample data from Podia.

Once you confirm that the Podia trigger is functioning and you have the data you need, you are ready to set up your Action for your Zap.

Configure your Action for the New Membership Subscription trigger

You can select from 1000s of integrations from Zapier to use the membership subscription data that is triggered from Podia. For this example, we will use the Podia trigger to send a personal Slack bot message.

To set up the integration, select Slack as the action app and select Send Direct Message as the Slack Action.

Make sure your Slack account is connected and verify by clicking on the Test button.

You can now edit the template to send a message to your Slack account. Select your Username from the dropdown and customize your Message Text with the template fields available from the sample data previously setup. Set the optional fields, if needed.

Testing the new membership subscription Zap

To test your new Zap, continue to the Test step in Zapier and click Test action.

If the Zap is correctly set up, you will receive a message in Slack, as per your Zapier action's settings!
