If you've made a test purchase to check your analytics and conversion tracking but are not seeing data in Google Analytics or Facebook, here are some troubleshooting steps to try.
Disable all ad-blockers in your browser
Many ad-blockers prevent analytics and conversion tracking to Facebook, Google, and other services.
Unfortunately, this is a technical limitation that Podia cannot work around.
Log out of your Podia dashboard
Podia will not perform conversion tracking if you're logged into your dashboard. We do this to prevent you from unintentionally polluting your analytics with test data. So when you do want your test purchases to be tracked, you must be logged out of the Podia dashboard. To be extra sure, you could clear your cookies, use private-browsing/incognito mode, or use a different browser entirely.
Be sure to try these steps first when placing a test transaction — 99% of the time a test transaction fails to track to analytics, it's because of one of the reasons above.
If you've disabled ad-blockers and logged out of Podia and you're still not seeing conversion data, you can try using a browser extension to troubleshoot.
Troubleshooting Google Analytics
Note: Google Analytics reporting can be delayed by 24-48 hours. Even though Podia sends tracking data to Google immediately, there may be a significant delay before that data appears in your Google Analytics dashboard. Learn more here.
Google provides a Chrome extension called Tag Assistant that shows details about your Google Analytics tracking, including Event details.
To use:
Install the Tag Assistant Chrome extension
Disable all ad-blockers in Chrome
Log out of your Podia dashboard
Navigate to your Podia site
Click the Tag Assistant icon in your Chrome toolbar and click the "Enable" button
Make a test purchase from your Podia site
After completing checkout you'll be taken to the "thank you" page on your site, which is where the conversion tracking events are fired. The Tag Assistant extension will let you know if the tracking request succeeded, and will provide error details if it failed.
Troubleshooting Facebook Pixel
Facebook provides a Chrome extension called Facebook Pixel Helper that shows details about your Facebook Pixel tracking.
To use:
Install the Facebook Pixel Helper Chrome extension
Disable all ad-blockers in Chrome
Log out of your Podia dashboard
Navigate to your Podia site
Make a test purchase from your Podia site
After completing checkout you'll be taken to the "thank you" page on your site, which is where the conversion tracking events are fired. Click the Facebook Pixel Helper icon in the Chrome toolbar to open the extension. The extension will let you know if the tracking request succeeded, and will provide error details if it failed.
