Video sizes and format guidelines

If you're looking to upload videos directly to Podia, we recommend you use the following settings:

  • MP4 file format

  • AAC audio codec

  • H264 video codec (progressive scan - no interlacing; high profile)

  • 30 or below frames per second

  • Individual file size up to 1GB (although Podia supports up to 5GB for individual files)

  • Video resolution: 1280x720 (HD) or 1920x1080 (FULL HD)

  • Up to 4 hours of duration

You can reduce file size without compromising its quality by compressing your videos. We suggest using a free and easy compression tool like Handbrake.

You can find a tutorial of how to use Handbrake here! πŸ“š

FAQ & Troubleshooting

What are the supported video formats?

We do recommend that you upload your videos to Podia in MP4, but other video formats are also supported.

Podia supports the following video formats: MP4, MKV, MOV, AVI, FLV, MPEG-2 TS, MPEG-2 PS, MXF, LXF, GXF, 3GP, WebM, MPG, QuickTime

Is there a video duration limit for videos uploaded to Podia?

Yes. There's a duration limit for individual videos of 4 hours.

If your video is longer than 4 hours, you can split them up into shorter parts.

Does Podia support 4k videos?

No, Podia does not support 4k videos. All 4k videos will be downscaled to 1080p.

What is the maximum upload size for individual video files?

We do recommend you upload videos up to 1GB for faster buffering/processing, but Podia supports up to 5GB for individual files.

If your file is bigger than 5GB, we would recommend compressing it with a tool like Handbrake.

Does Podia support audio-only video files?

Podia doesn't support audio-only video files, so you might run into encoding issues if you try to upload them to Podia.

If you have an audio-only video file you might consider turning it into a proper video file.

A good way to do this is to convert the MP3 file to MP4 by adding an image. Here's an example tool that can help.

I uploaded a video to Podia and got a "Failed to process"/"An unknown error occurred"... HELP!

If you've uploaded a video to Podia and ran into a Failed to process"/"An unknown error occurred" error message, chances are there might be an issue with how your video was encoded.

We'd recommend re-encoding your video following our video guidelines or using a tool like Handbrake.
