Using page anchor links

Learn how to link to a specific section of a page on your site

Written by Rodrigo

Anchor links take visitors directly to a specific section of a page instead of sending them to the top. They’re especially useful for long pages or when you want to point someone to a particular section of your site.

In this article, you’ll learn how to copy a link to any section of your site.

Copying a section link

Here’s how to copy a link to a section:

  1. From your home feed, click on your site name and select Admin from the dropdown menu.

  2. From the Admin dashboard, click Website in the sidebar menu.

  3. Click on the name of the page you'd like to access.

  4. In the site editor, hover over the section you want to copy a link to. A toolbar will appear in the top-right corner of the section.

  5. Click the link icon to copy the section link. You’ll see a Link copied message at the bottom of the screen.

    • Copied links include a #h_ followed by an identifier that shows which section the link points to.

  6. Share the section link with your site visitors wherever you want to direct them to that section. You can share it with others or add it to a button on your site.

FAQs

What happens if I delete a section I linked to?

The link will open the page from the top. Update any menus, buttons or emails that used the old link.

Can I link to sections on any page?

Yes. You can copy a section link from any page you can open in the site editor, including product and blog pages. This lets you link visitors directly to a specific section of those pages.

Site header and footers don't have anchor links.

Do I need to publish my page for the section link to work?

Yes. Visitors can access a section through an anchor link only if the page containing that section is published.

If an anchor link isn’t working, check that:

  • The page is visible and published.

  • Any recent changes, including the addition of the section, have been published.

  • If it's a product/event page, that the product/event is not set to draft.
