How to limit product sign-ups

Limiting how many people can buy a product helps motivate purchases and control your workload. With Podia you can automatically limit the sign-ups for your products! 🤑

In this article, you will learn how to automatically limit sign-ups for products on Podia.

Limiting product sign-ups

Here's how to limit sign-ups for your products:

  1. From your Podia dashboard, click on Products in the sidebar menu.

  2. Click on Edit next to the product you'd like to limit sign-ups for.

  3. Navigate to the Availability tab.

  4. Locate the Limits section.

  5. Click on Edit, next to the Sign-up limit option.

  6. Set the maximum number of sign-ups for this particular product.

    1. Sign-ups through bundles, plans, Zapier integrations and manual enrollments will count towards the total number and can’t be prevented after the limit is hit.

  7. Once you're done, hit Save to save your changes.

You’ve successfully set a limited number of seats for your product. Once the limit is reached, no additional customers will be able to sign up.


How does it impact my customers?

After a product sign-up limit is set, customers will be able to sign up for your product until the limit you set is hit.

If you have chosen to also display product availability on your site pages, customers will also be able to check how many seats are left for products that have limits set up.

⚠️ This feature is available with the Banner, Featured, Plans, or Products page sections.


Once your sign-up limit is hit, the product will look like it is sold out on your site.

This means any buy buttons will be disabled and customers will also see a "0 left" tag above the product name.

What if I want to increase the sign-up limit for my product?

You can absolutely do that! Just repeat the same process and adjust the number in there.

Note that at this time we don't work with the concept of batches. With that said, make sure you adjust the TOTAL number of sign-ups you want to allow for your product.

How do sign-up limits impact manual enrollments and/or Zapier/bundles/community plan sign-ups?

Sign-ups made through bundles, plans, Zapier integrations, and manual enrollments will automatically count toward the total remaining stock.

Once the sign-up limit is hit, any additional purchases through these indirect methods will continue to go through. This way, you can still enroll someone manually, or include a product as part of a bundle or plan, without disruption.

Are upsells impacted once the sign-up limit is hit?

Yes. Related product upsells will be disabled once a product sign-up limit is hit.

The number of seats is not showing on my sales page. HELP!

The number of seats is only available with the Banner, Featured, or Products page sections.

Make sure you are using one of these on your site pages so customers can see the available seats for a particular product.

Is this feature available for community plans?

Not at this time.

For now, limiting sign-ups is only available for products (online courses, digital downloads, webinars, bundles & coaching sessions).
