By default, new members who join your account are set to the Instant activity notification schedule, meaning they’ll instantly receive email notifications as new activity happens.
You can change the default activity notification schedule for new members to Instant, Hourly digest, Daily digest, or Weekly digest, depending on how frequently you’d like them to receive email notifications by default.
Members can change this setting at any time from their own account settings if they prefer to receive notifications more or less frequently.
Setting the default notification schedule for members
Here's how to define the default notification schedule for members:
From your home feed, click on your site name and select Admin from the dropdown menu.
From the Admin dashboard, click Settings in the sidebar menu.
Click Edit next to the Member notifications option.
Click the dropdown menu to select the default notification schedule for your members: Instant, hourly summary, daily summary, weekly summary, or turn it off.
This will only impact new members.
If a member changes their own notification frequency, their preference will override your default setting.
Hit Save to save your changes.

No. Changing the default notification schedule only affects new members who join your account after you make the change.
Existing members will keep their current notification schedule. In addition, if a member changes their own notification frequency from their account settings, their personal preference will always override your default setting.
