Podia offers a versatile rich-text editor that empowers you to format text and add different types of content into your digital products, community posts, and website.
With Podia's rich-text editor, you can easily tweak your text, add images, attach files, embed content, and much more! It's a flexible tool to enhance your content creation.

Podia's rich-text editor is mobile-friendly and easy to use π
As you start using the text editor, you'll be presented with a couple of options - such as adding an image, embed or file.
Clicking on the "..." (more) option will bring additional inserting options.
The options available in the command menu can vary depending on the specific area you're editing.
You might notice some differences in the available features and settings across different parts of Podia.
With the command menu, you can either add new elements or use it to format your text.
Here's how to insert new elements and format your text using Podia's rich-text editor.
Inserting new elements
Inserting new elements via Podia's text editor can be done in 2 ways:
By clicking on the content area to bring up text editor options.

in the text area to bring up the command menu.

Inserting images
Here's how to insert images through Podia's text editor:
Select the image option either from the quick action menu or from the command menu.
βUse the available fields to upload your image.

You can either upload a new file from your computer, select a file from your media library or search in Unsplash.
βFill in additional details if you'd like - such as Alt text and links.
βAlt text (optional): Descriptive text that appears when you hover over an image on a website. For accessibility purposes, it is read aloud to users through screen reader software. This text is also indexed by search engines and helps to boost SEO.
βLinks (optional): Add hyperlinks to your images to lead your customers to a different webpage!

Once you're done, click Insert to add your image.
After an image is uploaded, you can hover your cursor over it to display a formatting menu.
There are options available to resize and align as well as change or delete the image.
Inserting audio clips
Here's how to insert audio clips through Podia's text editor:
Type a
/
(forward slash) in the text area to bring up the command menu or click on the More option from the action menu.
βSelect the Audio option.
βUse the available fields to upload your audio clip. We support WAV, MP3 and AAC files up to 5 GB.

You can either upload a new file from your computer or select a file from your media library.
βSelect if you'd like to display a download link below the audio player for customers to download.
βOnce you're done, click Insert to add your audio clip.

Inserting files
Here's how to insert files through Podia's text editor:
Select the file option either from the quick action menu or from the command menu.
βUse the available fields to upload your file. You can either upload a new file from your computer or select a file from your media library.
βGive your file a name if you don't want the file name displaying.
βUse the available options to control if you'd like to show the file icon and file size as well.
βOnce you're done, click Insert to add your file.
Files uploaded through our text editor will be download-only.
After a file is uploaded, you can hover your cursor over it to display a formatting menu.
There are options available for aligning as well as editing or deleting it.
Inserting buttons
Here's how to insert buttons through Podia's text editor:
Type a
/
(forward slash) in the text area to bring up the command menu or click on the More option from the action menu.
βSelect the Button option.
βAdd a button label (what your button will say) and a button link (the page your button will redirect to).
βOnce you're done, click Insert to add your button.

After a button is created, you can hover your cursor over it to display a formatting menu.
There are options available for aligning as well as editing or deleting it.
Inserting lines
To insert a line, simply choose the spot where you'd like the line to be added, use the forward slash /
command, and then select Line from the command menu.

Inserting line breaks
To insert a single line break, simply hit Enter on your keyboard.
To insert extra spacing between text, you'll want to use "Shift+Enter" for the spacing to save & display properly.
If you just hit Enter, any additional spacing will be disregarded when saved.
Formatting text and adding hyperlinks
In this next section, we'll go over how to format your text and add links to other pages!
Formatting Text
There are two ways to format text using our rich-text editor.
Command menu
The first option is found within the command menu.
You can access the command menu by using the forward slash /
command and choosing your text formatting.
To view your options, you can scroll past the Insert section to the Formatting section.
Here, you will see the formatting options:
Heading 1, Heading 2, Heading 3, and Heading 4
Large text, Normal text, and Small text
Bullet list, Ordered list, Code block, and Block quote
Examples of each of these options can be seen below.
Highlighting text
To edit existing text, you can highlight to select the text you'd like to edit and a pop-up menu will appear above your text.
You will have all of the same options for formatting, with a few additional options, such as Bold, Italic, Strikeout, and Highlight.
For the highlighting option, there are four color choices: Yellow, Green, Blue, and Pink.
Currently, we do not support underlining.
Adding Hyperlinks
Select the text you want to hyperlink to bring up the editing pop-up.
On this pop-up menu, click on the hyperlink option to add a URL to your text and guide your customers to another URL.
Be sure to include the full URL, including the https:// for best results!
Embedding content and videos
Podia allows you to embed content from many other services directly using the rich-text editor. Some examples of things you can embed:
Videos from YouTube, Vimeo, and others
Tweets
Audio from Soundcloud
Presentations from Slideshare and Speakerdeck
Images from Instagram, Flickr, Imgur, etc.
To embed content, use the Embed command available in the text editor's quick menu.
From there paste the unique URL of the item you want to embed, then click Insert.
Note: Make sure you're using the direct URL of the video, slide, quiz, or form.

Our embed option in the rich text editor does not support embed code.
