Podia allows you to add a free trial period to any products with subscription pricing.
Free trials make it possible for people to test your product before they're committed to paying for a subscription.
Adding a trial to your subscriptions
Here's how to add a trial to products with subscription pricing enabled.
From your Podia dashboard, click on Products in the sidebar menu.
Click on Edit next to the product you'd like to set a trial for.
Navigate to the Pricing tab.
Click on Edit next to Offer to edit your product's offer type.
Enable subscription pricing for your product. Trials can only be set for products with subscription pricing enabled.
Enable the trial option and set how many days you want to add a trial for. You can set the trial duration anywhere from 1 to 365 days.
Select if you want to collect the payment method at trial start or trial end.
Collect payment method at trial start: Collects payment method when customers are checking out. Customers will be automatically charged at the end of their trial.
Collect payment method at trial end: Gives customers the option to sign up without entering their cards. Customers must connect a payment method before the trial ends to fully subscribe to your product.
When you're ready, hit Save to save your changes.
Once customers sign up for products that include a trial, they'll see this indicated during checkout.
Depending on how you’ve set things up, they might be asked to enter a payment method right away or only after the trial ends.
Trial email notifications
We automatically send a couple of emails towards the end of the trial to prompt customers to connect a payment detail to ensure they upgrade to a paid plan.
3 days before trial expires
If the member already has a credit card on file, we will include their payments details in the email:
1 day before trial expires
We'll send an email 1 day before trial expires prompting the customer to enter their credit card details to keep access to their subscription.
When the trial expires
This email is sent when the trial has expired, and there's no credit card on file.
