How to find a failed customer payment in Stripe

This section will walk you through how to find a failed customer payment in Stripe.

  1. Log in to your Stripe account

  2. In the search bar type or paste in the customer's email address. In the drop down menu, you will see the customer's email and/or name highlighted in yellow.

  3. Click on the highlighted email address. This will bring you to the customer's account page.

    Under Payments you will see the failed payment.

If you notice repeated failures, it might be worth checking if Stripe has placed any restrictions on your account. Restrictions can occur if Stripe requires additional information to verify your business or identity.


Checking the reason why the payment failed

Hover your mouse over the word Failed X to see the reason why the payment has failed.

For a more detailed answer, click on the failed payment. There will be the reason for the failed payment as well as some general advice on how to proceed with the customer.
