Accepting payments in Podia

Learn how to connect a Stripe or PayPal account to your Podia account to collect payments.

Podia makes it easy for you to sell your digital products online!

With just a few clicks, you're able to connect a Stripe and/or PayPal accounts, so you can start accepting payments for your digital products

If you connect Stripe to Podia, you will be able to accept credit card payments for products, payment plans, and recurring subscriptions via community plans. You can also accept alternative payment methods, such as Google Pay, Apple Pay, iDeal, Stripe Link, etc.

If you connect PayPal to Podia, your customers will be able to purchase your products through PayPal.

PayPal is available on the Shaker and Earthquaker plan.

Connecting Stripe and/or PayPal

Connecting a payment method is the first step when it comes to accepting payments and charging for your products.

Here's how to connect a Stripe and/or PayPal account to Podia:

  1. From your home feed, click on your site name and select Admin from the dropdown menu.

  2. From the Admin dashboard, click Settings > Payments in the sidebar menu.

  3. Click Edit next to the Payments option.

  4. Click on Connect next to each platform to connect your Stripe and/or PayPal accounts.

  5. Authenticate your account by logging in to your Stripe/PayPal accounts and authorizing the connection to Podia.

Setting up product prices

After you have successfully connected a Stripe and/or PayPal account to your Podia account, you're good to start setting up a price for your products.

Start selling!

After you have connected Stripe/PayPal to your Podia account and set up the prices for your products, it is time to start selling!

All the balance from purchases made through Podia will go straight into your Stripe or PayPal accounts, depending on the platform the customer used to complete the purchase.

Once the funds are available through Stripe/PayPal, you'll be able to withdraw them to your bank account.

FAQs

How do I change the bank information for where I receive payments from my customers?

To adjust where funds are sent from purchases that occur in Podia, you will need to make adjustments in your Stripe and PayPal accounts directly.

Can I use PayPal on the Mover plan?

Right now, the use of PayPal is only supported on our Shaker and Earthquaker plans.

Do you support other payment gateways other than Stripe and/or PayPal?

At this time, only Stripe and/or PayPal are supported, but we are looking to support more payment gateways in the future!

With Stripe you also get to accept alternative payment methods, such as Google Pay, Apple Pay, iDEAL, Stripe Link, etc.

We are unable to process payments through SEPA debit, Bancontact, Afterpay, Klarna, Razorpay, or Payoneer at this time.

Do you take any transaction fees from my sales?

Podia might charge a transaction fee depending on the plan you're on.

Here are the fees we charge for each sale based on each plan:

  • Mover: 5% transaction fee

  • Shaker and Earthquaker: no transaction fees

Please note that additional fees from Stripe and PayPal might apply.

Please note: To keep in line with regulatory and compliance requirements, Podia is unable to collect application fees through Stripe for Brazilian-based, Malaysia-based, Indian-based, Thailand-based or Mexican-based accounts.

Can I use external checkouts with Podia?

On the Shaker and Earthquaker plans, Podia includes an integration with Zapier.

This allows you to automate workflows between platforms, so you could use another checkout or purchase system and automatically send customer information to Podia, giving them access to the correct products.

Do you support bank transfers as a payment option?

Using Stripe Link, you can accept payment via bank transfers.

Otherwise, you could accept these transfers externally and manually enroll customers into the correct products.

Why haven’t my funds reached my bank yet?

If you’ve made sales but don’t see a payout in your bank account, check your Stripe or PayPal dashboard directly.

In some cases, Stripe or PayPal may temporarily hold funds while they complete additional verification. If that happens, you’ll need to complete any requested steps directly in those platforms before the payout can be released.

I have Stripe connected. Does this enable Buy Now Pay Later options?

Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) methods are not available for use on Podia sites.
