Discord roles are titles or permission levels you can assign to members in your server.
They’re useful for organizing your community, controlling access to specific channels, recognizing supporters, and managing what members can do within your Discord server.
With Podia, you can automatically assign Discord roles based on the products, events, or plans someone signs up for on your site.
Associating Discord roles with products/events/plans
When a customer signs up for a specific product, event, or plan, you can automatically assign them a Discord role based on that signup.
This will add eligible customers to your Discord server with the specific role you’ve configured for that offer.
First, make sure you have already integrated your Discord server with Podia.
From your home feed, click on your site name and select Admin from the dropdown menu.
From the admin dashboard, use the sidebar menu and click:
Click the Edit icon next to the product/event/plan you'd like to edit.
Navigate to the Details tab.
Scroll down until you find the Integrations area. Click Edit next to the Discord access option.
Under Discord Access, select the Discord role you’d like to assign to customers when they sign up for the particular product/event/plan. Here are the available options:
No access: Purchasing the product won't give customers access to the connected Discord server.
General access: Customers of this product will be added to the Discord server with general access permissions.
Individual roles: Customers of this product will be added to the Discord server with the specific role you selected.
FAQs
Are roles removed from Discord if a customer loses access to the Podia product?
Are roles removed from Discord if a customer loses access to the Podia product?
Yes.
If a specific customer loses access to a Podia product, their assigned role will also be removed from your Discord server. This will happen if:
You still have the role active in your Discord server (it hasn't been manually removed)
The role isn't "General Access" (General Access =
@everyonein Discord which is default and cannot be added or removed)
Please note that if you have the option "Remove community access when a customer loses product access" enabled, customers will be completely removed from your Discord server if they lose access to a product.
