Connecting the MCP via a prompt

One of the easiest ways to connect Podia to an AI tool is by using a prompt. If your AI tool supports adding custom MCP servers through a conversation, ask it to create a connection using Podia’s MCP server URL.

Here’s a prompt you can copy and use:

Your AI tool will guide you through the remaining steps, including signing in to Podia and authorizing the connection.

Manually connecting Podia to your AI using the MCP server

If you’re not using ChatGPT or Claude, you can still connect Podia to any AI tool that supports custom MCP connectors. You’ll need to add the Podia MCP server URL manually and sign in to your Podia account.

The names of the settings and buttons vary between tools, but the setup generally follows these steps:

Open your AI tool’s Settings or Integrations area.
Look for an option to add an App, Connector, Custom integration, or MCP server.
Create a new connection.
Enter a name for the connection, such as Podia.
If asked to choose a connection type, select Server URL, Custom server, or the closest available option.
Enter the Podia MCP server URL: https://app.podia.com/mcp
If asked to choose an authentication method, select OAuth. Podia MCP supports OAuth authentication only. Personal access tokens aren’t supported for MCP connections.
Finish creating the connection.
Sign in to your Podia account when prompted.

Is it safe to give an AI tool access to my Podia account?

When you connect an AI tool to Podia, you’ll be asked to choose the access level for different actions:

Read-only: Allows the AI tool to view supported account information, including contacts, products, pages, emails, and other content. It can’t create, edit, or delete anything.
Read and write: Allows the AI tool to view information and create or update supported content in your Podia account.

These permissions apply to every request made through the connection. Even if the AI tool attempts an unexpected action, it can’t access or change anything beyond the permissions you selected in the AI tool.

Can my AI tool use a different email address from my Podia account?

Yes. The email address you use for an AI tool such as ChatGPT can be different from the one associated with your Podia account.

During the connection process, sign in to the correct Podia account through the authorization window and approve the connection.

If the MCP server connection fails or you see a validation error, confirm that you selected OAuth as the authentication method.
