Email subscription settings determine how contacts become email subscribers when they create an account on your site.
The option you choose may depend on where your business and customers are located, as well as the privacy and anti-spam regulations that apply to you.
The following subscription options are available:

Automatic subscription
Contacts automatically become email subscribers when they create an account on your site.
This includes account creation through checkout, your Join page, or the direct registration page at /account/registration/new.
They don’t need to select an additional checkbox to receive marketing emails.
Opt-in subscription
Contacts are shown a checkbox that lets them choose whether to subscribe to your marketing emails when creating an account or completing checkout.
This option allows contacts to provide explicit consent before becoming email subscribers, which may be required under the regulations that apply to your business.
The opt-in checkbox appears on checkout and account registration pages across your site.

Updating email subscription settings
Here's how to change your email subscription settings:
When you first start your Podia account, this will be set to "Automatic subscription", so customers are automatically subscribed when creating an account.
From your home feed, click on your site name and select Admin from the dropdown menu.
From the Admin dashboard, click Settings > Email in the sidebar menu.
Click Edit next to the Email subscription option.
Choose whether you want people to be automatically subscribed to your emails when they create an account or not.
Automatic subscription: People will be automatically subscribed to emails when creating an account.
Opt-in subscription: People will be presented with a checkbox to subscribe to emails when creating an account.
Hit Save to save your changes. Changes will apply immediately.
