Updating your email subscription message

Learn how to customize your email subscription opt-in message

Written by Rodrigo

If you’d like customers to actively consent to receiving emails when creating an account (helpful for GDPR and CAN-SPAM compliance), you can show a checkbox for them to opt in when creating an account.

By default, this opt-in text reads "I accept to receive marketing emails from Site Name", but you can modify it directly from your settings.

Customizing your email subscription opt-in message

Here's how to customize your email subscription opt-in message:

  1. From your home feed, click on your site name and select Admin from the dropdown menu.

  2. From the Admin dashboard, click Settings > Email in the sidebar menu.

  3. Click the "Edit" button next to Email subscription.

  4. When your email subscription setting is set to "Opt-in subscription", you’ll see a Checkbox text field where you can customize the message shown to customers during checkout.

    • You can use any wording you’d like, but if you’re collecting consent for marketing emails, it’s a good idea to make the message clear and specific about how customer email addresses will be used, especially if you need to follow regulations like GDPR.

  5. Hit Save to save your changes.

Understanding the customer experience

After making these changes, customers will see your custom opt-in message when creating an account instead of the default text.

They'll need to check this box to be subscribed to emails.
