Why is my account under review?

What does it mean if your account has been placed under review/locked, and how to unlock it

Written by Rodrigo

If your account is under review or locked, access to certain Podia features has been temporarily restricted.

To help keep Podia secure, we may need to verify information about your account before full access can be restored.

Overview

If your account is under review or locked, access to certain Podia features will be temporarily restricted until you confirm and verify your identity.

Account under review

You can continue browsing your Admin dashboard and Hub and use most Podia features. However, some actions will be temporarily restricted, including:

  • Sending emails

  • Importing or inviting contacts

  • Granting access to plans, products, or events

  • Inviting members to your community

Account locked

You won’t be able to access your account while it’s locked. To restore access, you’ll need to verify your identity.

Common reasons your account is under review/locked

Here are some common, high-level reasons an account may be placed under review:

  • Invalid or incomplete name information

    • If the name entered during signup doesn’t appear to be a real first and last name — for example, obvious typos, placeholder text, or an email address entered in place of a name — your account may be flagged for review.

  • Payment or billing-related issues

    • Problems with your payment method, such as failed charges, invalid billing information, or activity that requires additional verification, may temporarily lock your account while we review it.

  • Accessing Podia from an unsafe or high-risk network

    • Signing in from networks that appear unsafe — including some public Wi-Fi networks, anonymized connections, or locations associated with a high level of abusive activity — can trigger a temporary lock. This helps protect your account and prevent unauthorized access.

  • Unusual or suspicious account activity

    • Certain account setup choices or activity patterns may automatically trigger a manual review as part of our fraud-prevention and security processes.

Unlocking your account

If your account is locked or placed under review, you’ll need to verify your identity before access can be restored.

Identity verification is completed through Stripe Identity (Stripe Verify), a secure service used by many online platforms.

Here’s what to expect:

  • You’ll be guided through a short, secure verification process.

  • You’ll need to upload a photo of a valid government-issued ID.

  • You may be asked to take a selfie to confirm your identity.

  • Stripe will securely process your information and share only the verification result with Podia.

Click Verify identity from the Under review/Locked page to begin the process

Podia doesn’t store your identity documents. They’re handled securely by Stripe in accordance with applicable privacy and security standards. You don’t need a Stripe account to complete the verification process.

Most identity checks are completed within a few minutes. Some may take longer depending on the quality of the submitted documents and the verification requirements in your region.
