Verification codes are an important security feature that help protect your account.
They help prevent unauthorized access and reduce the risk of accounts being compromised, while also helping limit account sharing.
Why am I being asked for a verification code upon login?
Each time you log in from an unrecognized device, we will ask you to verify your device to ensure no bad actors will have access to your account.
A verification code will be sent via the email connected to your account. Simply enter it upon login and click on Verify to log in to your Podia account.
Your verification code will be valid for 30 minutes.
You’ll receive an email with a verification code and details about the login attempt, including the location it came from. Make sure this information matches your login attempt before using the code.
Never share your verification code with anyone. If you receive a code you weren’t expecting, do not use it. Instead, change your password to help secure your account.
You can avoid entering a verification code every time you log in by trusting your device.
Can I turn this off?
If you’re an admin on a Podia account, verification codes cannot be turned off for security reasons, since these accounts may contain sensitive information.
If you’re logging into someone else’s Podia community/account, whether verification codes are required depends on the security settings set by the account owner.
What if I can't find my verification code?
If you aren't able to find the code in your email, here are a couple of things you can try.
Search for [email protected]
This is where the verification codes will be sent from. If you search for this address you will be able to filter for the message and find the verification code more easily:
Search in Spam/Promotions/Other folders
Some email services might filter these emails and put them into different inboxes. Make sure you always check your Spam folder.
If you are using Gmail, you should check the Promotions tab and if you are using Hotmail, you should check the Others folder.
Nothing in spam/trash?
This could be an issue with your email provider, or your email could be on a suppression list, which can happen if an email we send bounces. Contact us for help and if this keeps happening you should change your login email to something else.
Troubleshooting issues with verification codes
Verification code is invalid
Make sure you're using a single browser to login. Every code only works for the web browser you requested it on.
For example, if you request a code on a Safari browser, you cannot enter the same code in a new Firefox browser, or even a new tab in the Safari browser.
Enter the code from the same page you requested the code from, otherwise, a new code will be generated for each login attempt on the new tab or browser.
Delay in receiving verification codes
Verification codes expire after 30 minutes, and our code emails tend to send much quicker than that (1-3 minutes).
If codes are arriving very delayed, please wait a bit and try again, as it could be an intermittent issue that will self-resolve.
If no luck, check our status page as any outages will be noted there. If there's nothing there, then it could be an issue with your email provider.
FAQs
What if I don't recognize the session trying to login to my account?
What if I don't recognize the session trying to login to my account?
If you don’t recognize the login attempt or received a verification code email unexpectedly, it means someone may have your password and is trying to access your account.
Do not share the verification code with anyone. The good news is that they weren’t able to log in because two-factor authentication blocked the attempt.
We recommend changing your Podia account password right away and reviewing your active sessions, removing any that you don’t recognize.

If you’re using a VPN, the location shown in the verification email may reflect the VPN’s location instead of your actual location.
Check your VPN settings and confirm whether the location in the email matches the location your VPN is set to.
If you’re not using a VPN and don’t recognize the location, do not share the verification code and make sure to secure your account.
