What's the new Podia?

The new Podia puts human connection at the center of your business.

Instead of products, community, and updates living in separate places, everything your audience has access to will come together in one unified home.

What's changing?

You can expect some big updates with the new Podia. Check out the articles below to get a clear understanding of what’s changing and how it impacts your account.

Migrating to the new Podia

The next time you log in, you'll be asked to migrate to the new Podia. You won't be able to access your dashboard until you upgrade your account to the new Podia.

Here's how to migrate to the new Podia in your account:

  1. To start your migration, click Continue the next time you log in.

  2. Review all the changes the new Podia will bring to your account. Click Continue to move to the next page.

    • This is a one-way migration and cannot be reversed.

    • Your site will also be temporarily offline during the migration, but it should only take a few minutes. Once it starts, you can leave your site while it completes.

  3. Prepare your spaces before the migration and decide who should have access to your open spaces and public topics. Any default notification settings you have for existing topics will carry over.

In the new Podia, your community includes everyone who has an account on your site. This means that any contact with an account will be able to access all spaces that are set as open.

    • Open spaces: Will be visible to everyone with an account on your site.

    • Public topics: Will be converted into open spaces.

    • Private spaces: Will keep access for the members who currently have it.

  4. Click the dropdown menu next to each one of your Open and Public spaces to define its audience.

    1. All members: Space will be visible to everyone with an account on your site.

    2. Existing members only: Space will be visible only to members who already have access.

  5. Decide if you want to hide all member profiles and the members list. This will prevent members from viewing other profiles and starting chats with each other.

    • You can read more about managing member profile visibility here.

  6. When you're done preparing your spaces and member visibility, click Start migration to start your migration.

  7. The migration will take a few minutes, and your site will be temporarily offline during this time. Once the migration is complete, you’ll receive an email confirmation.

  8. After that, log back in, review your profile information, and start exploring the new Podia 😄

FAQs

Can I keep my existing version of Podia?

No. The next time you log in, you will be prompted to upgrade your account to the new Podia. You won't be able to access your dashboard until you do so.

All accounts will be automatically migrated in early August if no action is taken until then.

What do I need to do if I didn’t have a community or topics before?

If you didn’t have a community before the migration, we’ll create two starter spaces for you: General and Announcements.

Members will automatically follow both, so they don’t miss anything important.

You can update and customize these spaces after the migration.

The continue button is greyed out. Help!

Only site owners can migrate accounts. If you are a teammate on an account, you will not be able to continue with the migration. Please ask the site owner to log in and perform the migration.
