Community is now part of Podia instead of being a separate add-on. When someone buys a product, joins a plan, creates an account, or signs up for a free product, they’ll gain access to your community.
In this article, we’ll explain built-in community access and what it means to be a member in the new Podia.
What does “gains access to my community” mean?
Gaining access to your community means that anyone who creates an account on your site automatically becomes a member.
As a member, they’ll have access to the home feed, where they can see updates from all the products they purchased and spaces they're part of.
This brings human connection to the front, making it easier for you to connect with your members and for them to stay up to date with what’s happening in their accounts.
What each member sees on their home feed depends on what they’ve signed up for and how space permissions are managed on your side.
What is the difference between free and paid members?
A free member is anyone who has free access to your community. This means they’re not part of any paid community plans.
Free members can be people who created an account on your site for free, or customers who simply purchased a product from you.
Free members have free access to your community
Paid members are people who have joined any of your paid community plans.
Paid members are people who have joined a paid community plan
What can free members access?
By default, free members can view updates from any open spaces on their home feed.
Free members cannot see private spaces unless you give them access directly, or they have purchased a product that includes that space.
You have full control over what spaces each group can access, allowing you to decide what’s available for free and what is reserved for paid members.
FAQs
Does it mean everyone will automatically gain access to my paid content?
Does it mean everyone will automatically gain access to my paid content?
No. Even though everyone who creates an account is considered a member and can access the home feed, they’ll only see updates from what’s been made available to them.
Their home feed is based on their access. If they don’t have access to any spaces, they’ll only see updates from the products they’ve purchased. If they don’t have access to products either, they’ll see an empty home feed.
You have full control over what appears for them by deciding which spaces and products are available to free members and what is reserved for paid access.
