This summer, we’re launching a new Podia that puts your community members at the center. Instead of products, community, and updates living in separate places, everything your audience has access to will come together in one unified home.
Here's everything that changes with the new Podia.
General changes
New login
The biggest change you’ll notice the next time you log in is the new Home feed.
You and your members will now log in to the same home screen, so you can see exactly what your members see. From there, everyone can access notifications, chats, products, and community spaces — all in one unified place.
Community is now built in
Community is now part of Podia instead of being a separate add-on. When someone buys a product, joins a plan, creates an account, or signs up for a free product, they’ll have access to your community, but only if you’ve set one up.
If you don’t create any spaces, nothing changes. Your members won’t see a community experience, and Podia will work exactly the way it always has.
If you do want to run a community, you can control what members see by choosing which spaces are open to everyone and which are reserved for paid members.
New Admin area
To make changes — like editing your site, creating products, sending emails, or viewing stats — you’ll use the Admin area, which is separate from the home feed and where all account management happens.
Home feed
The home feed is the central hub for you and your members, and it’s the first page you’ll see after logging in.
From there, you can view notifications, chats, products, and community spaces based on what you have access to.
The home feed is unique to each member, showing updates, announcements, lesson comments, products, and relevant spaces — all in one place, making it easy to stay connected and explore more of your content.
It also includes new customization options, such as community highlights (like Top Contributors and custom links), welcome messages, and the ability to feature posts directly on the home feed.
Notifications
We’re introducing a new unified notification system that replaces the previous Notifications Inbox. With this update, you can access all of your notifications directly from your home feed.
Entrance condition rename
We’ve renamed the “Added to Audience” campaign entrance condition to “Joins community”.
Since anyone who signs up for anything on your site now becomes a member, this condition replaces the "Added to Audience" and triggers whenever someone becomes a contact in your audience.
Plans
We're introducing some changes to how we manage plans on Podia.
No more free plans
Since community is now built in by default, you can no longer create separate free community plans. Instead, members will automatically get free access to the home feed and any open topics you choose when they buy a product or create an account on your website.
Any existing free plans will be removed during the migration. Members from those plans will be tagged with the plan name, so you can still identify them easily.
They’ll also keep access to the same topics (now called spaces) and any included products their plan had before.
New Plans Admin area
We’re introducing a new Plans page, where you can view and manage all of your paid community plans in one place.
Spaces
Spaces replace topics and product discussions
Your current community topics and product discussions will be turned into Spaces.
They’ll work in a similar way, but with more customization options — such as adding icons and more granular control over permissions through products, plans, and specific members.
No more public topics
Public topics previously allowed you to create posts that were visible to anyone on your site, including non-members. This feature has been removed in the new Podia.
Any public topics you had have been converted into open spaces, which are only visible to members.
If you’d like to keep that content accessible to site visitors, we recommend turning those posts into blog posts.
Chat
Member-to-member chat
Members are now able to start their own private chats with other members.
Group chat
You and your members can now create group chats (up to 10 people) directly inside Podia.
Site changes
New "Join" button
We’re introducing a new “Join” button in your site’s header that links to your Plans page, making it easier for people to join your community.
Updates to featured sections with free plans
If you have any featured sections on your site with free plans, those sections will be automatically removed from your pages, since free plans are no longer supported.
