Notifications help you stay on top of what’s happening in your account, so you can see who’s interacting with your posts, reacting, and more.
Podia gives you full control over your notifications, allowing you to turn specific types on or off based on what you want to receive and how you want to receive them.
Overview
By default, notifications are enabled for spaces you follow, posts you create or comment on, and course lessons you interact with.
You can choose what notifications you receive and how you receive them — including activity updates, chat messages, and even specific spaces you want to follow.
There are 2 types of notifications on Podia:
Web notifications: A popover will appear inside your site whenever there’s a new notification.
Email notifications: You’ll receive an email whenever there’s a new notification.
You can enable or disable each notification type individually, or use both, depending on your preferences.
Managing notifications
Here’s how to enable or disable specific types of notifications:
From your home feed, click on your profile in the bottom-left corner and select Account.
From your Account settings, click Edit next to Notifications.
Use the toggles to control which notifications you’d like to receive, for both web and email.
Activity – Manage notifications for things like new posts, comments, reactions, and mentions
Chat – Enable or disable notifications for new chat messages (email notifications are grouped and sent and delayed 10 minutes)
General – Enable or disable general marketing emails from your account
Managing space notifications
You can control notifications for each individual space, so you can choose exactly which spaces you want to receive updates from.
Here’s how to manage notifications for spaces:
From your home feed, click on a space from the navigation menu, or click Browse to view all the spaces you have access to.
By default, you won’t receive notifications for spaces you’re not following. To start getting notifications, make sure to follow the space by clicking the Follow button.
If you’re already following a space and want to stop notifications, click the notification bell for that space and select No posts.
Managing course notifications
You can control notifications for each individual course, so you can choose exactly which courses you want to receive updates from — for example, when someone comments on a lesson.
Here’s how to manage notifications for courses:
From your home feed, click the Products tab in the navigation menu.
Click on the product you'd like to manage notifications for.
Click the Follow/Unfollow button in the top-right corner to follow or unfollow a course.
Unfollowing a course means you’ll stop receiving updates about it, including comments, in your home feed.
You may still receive notifications for replies to your own comments and mentions, depending on your notification settings.
Using the unsubscribe link in email notifications
You can use the unsubscribe link in notification emails to stop receiving that specific type of notification.
Unsubscribing this way will only disable email notifications for that type (for example, reactions), without affecting other notifications.
Here’s how to use the unsubscribe option to manage specific notifications directly from your emails:
Click the “Unsubscribe from [notification type]” link in the footer of the email you received. The wording may vary depending on the type of notification you received.
Confirm you'd like to unsubscribe from this particular type of notification on the next screen that pops up.
Alternatively, you can click “Manage all notifications” in the email footer to update all your notification settings. This will take you to your account, where you’ll need to log in to make changes.
