Getting started with the Files Library

Learn how to use our Files Library to manage content you upload to products.

The Media Library stores all the files you upload to Podia and offers a central location where you can view, download, and delete them.

In this article, we'll show you how to get started with managing your files with the Media Library.

Accessing the Files Library

Here's how to access your files library:

  1. From your home feed, click on your site name and select Admin from the dropdown menu.
    ​

  2. From the Admin dashboard, click Files in the sidebar menu.
    ​

Viewing files

You can view certain file types - such as images and videos - directly from your Media Library.

Other file types - such as PDFs, MP3s, CSVs, etc - won’t be displayed directly and will only be available for download.

Here's how to view your media library files:

  1. Find the file you want to view, then click on it.
    ​

  2. This will open up a modal where you'll be able to view the image/video you selected.
    ​

Downloading files

You can easily download files you uploaded to Podia directly from your Media Library.

Here's how to do it:

  1. Locate or search for the file you want to download.
    ​

  2. Click on the download icon next to the file. Your download will start soon.
    ​

Deleting files

You can easily delete files you uploaded to Podia directly from your Media Library.

Deleted files will be removed from all locations where they’re used, and once deleted, they can’t be recovered.

Here's how to delete a file from your media library:

  1. Locate or search for the file you want to delete.
    ​

  2. Click on the delete icon next to the file name and confirm its deletion.
    ​

    You can also bulk delete files by selecting the files you want to remove and using the bulk action options at the top.
    ​

Filtering and sorting files

You can easily apply filters and sort files within your media library to help you visualize the files you want.

Applying filters

Click on the filter button to filter files based on specific types. Available options are:

  • All

  • Videos

  • Images

  • Audio

  • Other files

  • Unused

Sorting files

You can also sort your files based on specific criteria. Available options are:

  • Uploaded (only for files uploaded after September 3rd 2024)

  • Name

  • Size

  • Length

Can I upload a file directly to the Files Library?

No.

Files must be uploaded through the various uploaders in your Podia account, such as courses, digital downloads, or the site builder.

When you upload files in these places, they are automatically added to your Files Library.

Can I bulk download files?

Bulk downloading files is not supported, so your files need to be downloaded individually.

Can I manage files through the Files Library?

You can view, download, and delete files directly from the Media Library.

Managing other aspects, like thumbnails and subtitles, must be done from the specific lesson or location where you uploaded the file.

Can I add thumbnails and subtitles through the Files Library?

No. Managing thumbnails and subtitles must be done from the specific lesson or location where you uploaded the file.

What are the file size recommendations for files added to the Files Library?

This will vary based on where the file is uploaded! Check our Image and Video guidelines doc for more information.

Is there a limit as to how many videos I can store in my files library?

Yes, limits depend on what Podia plan you're in. Here are the limits for each plan:

  • Mover: 500 videos

  • Shaker: 1,000 videos

  • Earthquaker: Unlimited videos
