How to Access Your Browser's Developer Console

The developer console logs information about your web application, including network requests and errors. Sharing a screenshot of this console can be invaluable.

Chrome, Brave, and Microsoft Edge

  • Windows: Press Shift + Ctrl + J

  • Mac: Press Option + ⌘ + J

Firefox

  • Windows: Press Cmd + Shift + K

  • Mac: Press Option + ⌘ + K

Safari

  1. Enable the Develop menu:

    1. Go to Safari > Settings

    2. Click Advanced

    3. Check "Show features for web developers"

  2. Open the console: Press Option + ⌘ + C


Finding Your Browser Version

Knowing your browser version helps us identify compatibility issues.

Chrome

  1. Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner

  2. Go to Help > About Google Chrome

  3. Your version number will be displayed

Brave

  1. Click the three-line menu in the top-right corner

  2. Go to Help > About Brave

  3. Your version number will be displayed

Edge

  1. Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner

  2. Go to Help and Feedback > About Microsoft Edge

  3. Your version number will be displayed

Firefox

  1. Click the three-line menu in the top-right corner

  2. Go to Settings

  3. Scroll down to the Firefox Updates section to find your version

Safari

  1. With Safari open, click "Safari" next to the Apple icon

  2. Select "About Safari"

  3. A window will appear showing your version


Finding Your Operating System Version

Your operating system version can impact how applications run.

Mac

  1. Click the Apple icon in the top-left corner

  2. Select "About This Mac"

  3. A window will display your macOS version

Windows

  1. Click the Start menu

  2. Type "About your PC" and press Enter

  3. Scroll down to "Windows specifications" to find your version

iPhone (iOS)

  1. Open the Settings app.

  2. Tap General > About.

  3. Your iOS version will appear near the top of the screen.


Android

  1. Open the Settings app.

  2. Scroll down and tap About phone.

  3. Look for the Android version section to find your OS version.
